ICAO Blockchain Aviation Summit and Exhibition is a premier and unprecedented ICAO event promoting a global unified understanding of the commercial, technological and efficiency potentials of Blockchain technology in support of a sound, safe, secure and economically-viable civil aviation system.
The ICAO Blockchain Summit and Exhibition took place in Abu Dhabi, 2-4 April, 2019, with over 800 individuals from 90 countries taking part in the event.
Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, the event was co-organized by the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority, GCAA, and the International Civil Aviation Organization, ICAO.
The gathering served as a platform to promote global collaboration to unlock the potential of Blockchain technology to ensure a safe, secure and efficient civil aviation system. The 2019 event, entitled, 'Blockchain: Unlock the Potential', offered the international aviation community information and experience about Blockchain technology.
ICAO and GCAA aim, through the summit and exhibition, to accelerate the adoption of Blockchain through the entire aviation ecosystem from aircrafts and other assets such as financing to business operations, including passenger experience, to contracts management, record keeping and security.
